Four of the 5 new LPFM stations in the greater Madison area are now on the air, with the 5th planning to start broadcasting early next year. You can see the call signs and frequencies of the 4 at http://lpfm.madisonwi.us/.
We have been offered a new home for the radio station on Orchard Drive 1-1/3 mi. to the northeast, and will soon have a relocation application submitted to the FCC.
To meet current FCC requirements, WIDE-LP needs to move at least 1/2 mile to the east. We are currently off the air as we look for a new home.
If you live in Madison, join our reception testing team and tune in to 99.1 FM between 10 am and 5 pm on Saturday the 4th of July. We will be having a one day test broadcast from the roof of a 3 story building in west Madison (near Hilldale Shopping Center). We want to see how far our 100 watt signal will reach. LPFM stations around Wisconsin, on the air or being planned, are invited to a free "LPFM radio shoptalk" session, 9-11 am on Thur. April 30 at the Hilton Milwaukee City Center, 509 W. Wisconsin Ave. in Milwaukee.
LPFM radio shoptalk. Join seasoned radio veterans and new LPFM licensees to talk about the nuts and bolts of erecting a new radio station - developing programs and audiences, understanding FCC rules and music licensing, making key equipment choices, fundraising successfully, and expanding into Internet radio.
Hightower Radio now airs each weekday at 4 pm, followed by talk shows at 4:02 pm. Health Writers and Insights now air on alternate Tuesdays at 4:02 pm. Following these talk shows music from the week's featured artist or band airs until 5 pm as Featured 'til 5. Moyers & Company Archives now airs at 6 pm Mondays.
Following up on the national Grassroots Radio Conference 2014 in Ames IA Aug. 14-17 which several of us attended, we have scheduled a meeting from 2 to 4 pm on Saturday Sept. 20 for all low power radio folks, present or future, from the greater Madison area. The Evjue Youth Room at the Lussier Community Education Center, 55 S. Gammon Rd on Madison's west side (just north of Memorial High School) has been reserved for us.
