WIDE Celebration

WIDE-LP FM held a celebration on Friday, May 23rd from 12:00 to 4:00.

The celebration was at Prairie Unitarian Universalist Society, 2010 Whenona Drive, Madison, Wisconsin. Refreshments were provided.

We had hoped to celebrate returning to the air, but instead we heard about more bumps in to road to that goal. First, we learned we needed FCC approval before we could start broadcasting from a new location, Bob's garage in southwest Madison. Then, not all the transmitter components were functioning as expected.

May Radio Council Meetings

We met again on May 15 and talked about technical details associated with the start of broadcasting. Donated equipment is being repaired. The required emergency broadcast equipment we purchased weeks ago had not yet arrived. Someone from Soul Wide may go to the Wisconsin Dells to pick it up. We need it for the June 10 test of the emergency broadcast system. Eric has made some progress with new software we hope to use.

The CityWide Radio Council met on Thursday April 3 at 7:30 pm in the Community Room at the South District Office Police Station, 825 Hughes Place. Before the meeting Eric showed some software for controlling stations.

Radio Council Feb. 2008

The February meeting of the Radio Council for City Wide was changed to 7 pm on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008, but subsequently canceled due to the weather. We had expected news from Eric about a grant CityWide has received.

Radio Council at the end of 2007

At our November 8 meeting we welcomed first time participant Bill Benedict. Eric indicated that once we purchase the required emergency broadcast equipment we will be able to start broadcasting from the antenna on his roof with other borrowed equipment. The steps needed to get our Speedway tower up are progressing.

The December Radio Council meeting that had been set for Dec. 6 at the the South District Office Police Station (825 Hughes Pl.) was canceled because the room was not available.

Test broadcasting ends

Two weeks of test broadcasting with a rented transmitter and a temporary tower on Eric's roof ended at noon on Oct. 20, 2007.

Radio Council - Oct.

The Radio Council's October meeting was Thursday Oct 11th, 8:00 pm (was 7) at the Southside Police Station (825 Hughes Place).

We worked on program scheduling, and heard about the test broadcasting.

License Granted

The FCC has granted our license to cover our construction permit. That is particularly good news as unlike many LPFM stations we did not have "Automatic Test Authority" to turn on our transmitter. Now we will finally be able to get started. We will still be transmitting from a temporary facility as we get work on straightening out the zoning details required by our zoning variance.

This is the time to get in on the ground floor. Come to the next Radio Council meeting.
